American Sniper is one of the most famous and high-profile military memoirs of the 21st century, written by the legendary U.S. Navy SEAL, Chris Kyle. His life and combat experience have become symbols of service to the homeland, courage, and professional mastery. Over a decade of service (1999–2009), Chris Kyle became the most successful sniper in the history of the U.S. military, earning the nickname “Legend” among his comrades and “al-Shaitan” (the Devil) from enemies who placed a bounty on him.

The book is an honest and uncompromising autobiographical account of the author’s participation in the Iraq War, detailing the challenges he and his family faced.
