Rules for storing compasses
Do not store compasses on metal hooks or near any magnetizable metal. Contact between the compass and metal will cause the arrow to demagnetize and not work correctly. The compass will take a very long time to stabilize or will not point north at all. It is possible to store several compasses next to each other. They magnetize each other and thus do not demagnetize.
Tip: If you want to test the compasses, you don't need to put them side by side, because they will point in different directions. Spread them some distance apart and then they will show the right direction north.
