POLARTEC
In 1981, founded at the beginning of the twentieth century by Hungarian immigrant Henry Forstein in Malden, Massachusetts, Malden Mills introduced a new line of fleece materials called Polarfleece. Today, the family of these materials is called Polartec Classic and is found in the collections of all the world's leading manufacturers of hiking, mountaineering and military equipment.
Polartec materials have made a real technical breakthrough. More budgetary fleece materials of that time had a rather banal structure and production process. With Polartec, the process is much more labor-intensive.
Today, the company is one of the largest manufacturers of clothing materials in the outdoor industry. Polartec Classic 100 (100 g/m2) is a thin fleece material that provides breathability and moderate thermal insulation, which is used for sewing a medium insulation layer for hikers and skiers.
