Abrams Lightweight Ranger Booney Gen3 | Multicam

The history of the “Boone” (or “giggle hat”) boonie hat dates back to the Vietnam War, where American units needed an alternative to rigid caps. The main goal was simple: break up the silhouette of the head and protect the soldier from tropical rain and scorching sun. Over decades, this headwear became a symbol of professionalism, and the Gen3 version by Abrams represents “space-age technology” in service of infantry.

The base is made from NySpan DWR material (99% Nylon / 1% Spandex), providing exceptional elasticity and freedom of movement. The addition of 1% spandex allows the hat to fit perfectly without excessive pressure, while the DWR water-repellent coating ensures that light rain or morning dew simply rolls off the surface without weighing the product down.

Integration of NIR-protection technology. In modern conflicts, where night vision devices (NVDs) are essential, standard fabrics “glow” in the near-infrared spectrum, turning a soldier into a visible target. The materials of this hat feature a special coating that reduces visibility under NVDs, allowing you to remain a shadow even under enemy observation.

The brim construction is asymmetrical, improving visibility while enhancing facial concealment. Removable flexible inserts made of Tegris composite allow users to shape the brim angles: prefer a “cowboy” style for better peripheral vision or a classic flat brim? Simply adjust the Tegris to your preference. For maximum comfort in hot conditions, Omega mesh (100% polyester) is used to provide instant moisture wicking. Internal components are reinforced with Squadron 500D/500D laminate, ensuring durability and tear resistance. The original Multicam® pattern provides adaptability across various environments, reducing visibility in both forest and steppe. This is not just a hat — it is intelligent gear that breathes, protects, and conceals.
